Be Rooted Botanicals loves our planet, its people, and its plants!

Be Rooted Botanicals is a woman owned and operated business in the Santa Cruz mountains in California. We pride ourselves on creating effective, organic, herbal formulas. We are a tiny company of five badass women, and we make our products by hand in small batches.

Planet Earth

We use only organic, natural, and food-grade ingredients. Our botanical extracts are all organically grown, a choice that benefits both people and the earth. We source our ingredients from high vibe companies that also make good choices for people and planet.

Our company puts an emphasis on reducing waste in any way we can. We know it's only a small gesture, but we want to make a difference. That's why you'll find your orders packed with recycled materials that we've foraged. Our scraps from our meals also go to our chickens!

Our products help people feel better. Each plant in our formulas has been chosen for its specific healing properties, and our products work! We love getting testimonials from customers. It’s why we love what we do!

Be Rooted Botanicals donates to non profit humanitarian organizations. We give monthly to the Homeless Garden Project and Nourishing Generations. We also donate to fundraisers for local schools, organizations, and Valley Churches United.

We love herbs! All five of us have a deep respect and understanding of the healing power of plants. Combined, we have attended 75 sessions of the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium. We have worked as herbalists, nutritionists, buyers, and in every single department of 10 different health food stores. We have attended various herb classes, workshops, and courses, including a 6 month program at Blue Otter School of Herbal Medicine. We have taught classes about herbs to children and adults, and trained store employees on various natural products. We all love plants and enjoy spending time in our own gardens. Most of all, we are grateful we get to come together every day and make herbal medicine that helps people!

  • I work 10+ hour shifts walking/jogging non-stop as a delivery driver. I also have PCOS and that in itself causes pain in my lower back and lower abdomen. So at the end of the day my legs, back, feet and abdomen are incredibly sore. I stumbled across this miracle cream and use it every night after a hot shower. My pain has gone down considerably, and I can do activities with my children after work! Before using the handmade cream, I would be too sore to move, now I can do what I wish. I'm so grateful I bought it!

  • Thank you for creating a great product that really works. I have tried numerous products for my aching shoulder. Within 5 mins. of applying this the throbbing stopped. I couldn’t believe it. I went back for more. I’ve been giving it to friends with various bodily aches and they can’t believe how it stops their pain. Keep up the great work. Don’t change the formula. Patent it if you haven’t already. Love it. Thank you so much.

Meet the Badasses

Rarely do you see the head of a company represent its mission as clearly as Molly does with Be Rooted. Originally from Maryland, Molly has an incredible work ethic in all areas of life. Whether it be raising 3 kids, running a home school at her home, developing her off grid property, or running Be Rooted. Molly is as productive as she is generous and as honest as she is herb savvy. She worked in our local health food stores for most of her adult life. Molly has attended nearly every Northern California Women's Herbal Symposium and knows her plants! Molly has traveled extensively and she and her sister Kate lived in Liberia at a young age. Perhaps this explains her ever thoughtful, ever gracious perspective. Her dedication to plant medicine is unsurpassed, as are her high standards, not only for herself but for her products, her staff, and her company. She also loves dancing to live music, and playing music and exploring hot springs with her husband, Rich. Molly's passion for organic vegetarian food is definitely evident here at Be Rooted. Good music and a GREAT sit-down feast are enjoyed daily with all staff. Molly always takes time to appreciate her crew of badass women, but we know we are the lucky ones to be supporting her and her herbal creations that truly make a difference in people’s lives.

Pam Nectar is a passionate herbalist and educator. She went to the Blue Otter School of Herbal medicine in 2003 in Northern California and has been in the natural products industry since 2001. She spent many years as a buyer and manager for Whole Foods and has also worked with brokers, distributors, and as a product trainer. Pam is Molly's most trusted advisor, and Be Rooted truly wouldn't be the same without her. Her charm and charisma help our products reach customers far and wide, as she travels to different states in her trusty van spreading the Be Rooted love. She brings great experience, humor, and love to our little team. She is always making us laugh and helping to cook up something delicious in the kitchen. Pam loves to start the day outdoors with her dog Harper, and plays in an Americana folk band around Santa Cruz. A Canadian dual citizen in love with California, she is grateful for all the herbal knowledge she has attained here and all the warm nights she spends sleeping outside. Pam is ready to answer your Be Rooted questions!

Be Rooted's secret weapon is Kate, Molly's sister. Kate runs the workshop and keeps it humming with precision, production and great music! Mother of 3, master gardener, chef extraordinaire with the best laugh, Kate is a positive beam of light everywhere she goes. She has attended almost every Northern California Women's Herbal Symposium with her sis! Kate is so thoughtful about handcrafting Be Rooted products that she even ensures the dancing rainbows that flood our workshop anoint the jars. Kate is as hardworking as they come. Kate and her family, cats, and chickens live off grid in the redwoods. Her sister Molly and her family also live there. Together, they have transformed a large property in need of love. Always sweet, helpful, kind, thoughtful, and giving we are lucky to have such an amazing badass in the biz! Our company cheer? "Thanks Kate!"

Diana comes to us from the mountains of Costa Rica, where she was a journalist. She is a communicator by profession. She has always had an appreciation for herbs because her grandmother was a healer. People would come to her Abuela with all kinds of ailments, and Diana witnessed the power of plants at a young age. She now lives up the road in Boulder Creek with her husband, Jason. She loves her family, trees, and nature in general. Diana brings enthusiasm and positivity to our team. She helps us with office tasks and packs all our orders with the utmost care. We are grateful that she is a part of Be Rooted!

The #1 Elf in our workshop is sweet Sylvia. A true local, Sylvia was born and raised in Santa Cruz. Sylvia comes to us by way of Whole Foods where among other things, she was a cake decorator. These skills transfer very well to our workshop with all the mixing and concocting! She is a whiz at piping our customer samples! With nearly a decade in the natural products industry, Sylvia is also dedicated to quality ingredients. Sylvia loves all things Japanese, the Holidays (the cute gnomes) and all things magical, ESPECIALLY Harry Potter! You often hear a hearty British accent telling an audiobook story on the days she is working her own magic here at Be Rooted! Sylvia loves time with her hubby James, "the kids', black cat Jimbo and Marcel, her adorable bunny.
